Parenting : In Hopes of Not Raising a "Brat"

Today marks the 1 year 2 weeks and 2 days post-birth adventure in the tale of Muhammad Fahyim Syakir bin Faisal Shadli. Born and bred in Malaysia, 9.6 kilograms to date (slight underweight if to be compared to his height).

That cheeky little lad was born in Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur on the 28th of September 2012. Weighing at 3.84 kilograms was considered big ass heavy if to be compared to other infants at that time. On the eve of 27th September 2012, le wife struggled with constant contractions which brought us to the hospital across the street (I live two steps away from PHKL which was the main reason why we pick the hospital during birth planning). Le wife constantly attacked by precise timed contractions during our stay in the labour room, the nurse said my wife's opening was slower than it supposed to be and so we waited. Le wife wanted normal birth so bad that she decides to endure the pain that comes with it. Unfortunately for her after 12 long hours, the amount of pain, physical and mental discomfort is too much for her to bear. At 9 centimeters, she screamed for epidural but the doctor declined. Finally she was c-sected because the kid is to big for her.

This type of experience, the front seat involvement of a person you love contacting with decibels of pain can bring a man's guts to the ground. It was a bittersweet experience I must say for most first time daddys.

Being the first son, first grandson and first great-grandson of our little extended family, the journey of raising this active and progressive kid task has become more challenging to us newcomers. The kid often spoilt with toys, gadgets, clothes, pamperings and all the extra props that he might not yet understand. He cries, he gets picked up, he glanced at a toy, the price tag gets scanned..as easy as that.

Being the parents of this "lime-lighted" child sometimes took its toll on us. Just imagine that we used to travel as far as 120 kilometers a day for 5 days continuously just to ensure his safety. The kid is like a celebrity, he lives in the car..one day he's in the east.. the other day he's in the west. By the time Sunday nights come along, we are already knackered.

Often I raised a bit of my voice just to alarm him that I'm still the boss of the house, but most of the time I was pinned down by his smiles. Bear in mind, this kid got three toy stations. One in my house, the other two is in Bangi and Shah Alam respectively.

Saying all this, seeing the kid grow inch by inch, baby wipes to diapers and urinals to discharges makes my heart liquefy. Even the fiercest cutthroat father will melt whenever the fruit of his loins chuckles in aggravation. It has been two days since he started walking and we are the happiest parents on earth!! Now all the edges in the house will be smothered with tapes.

A more intrigue future to come, I can't wait to watch him kick some footie and sketch on the wall. Mommy and daddy will work hard to make sure you thrive and blossom baby Fahyim Syakir.

Introduction

As I sit by this trading desk of mine, watching over moving rates on my Telequote, I decided to give it a pause. A quick run through my wife's blog made me realized that I too shall have a blog. Hahaha!

I was given the name Faisal Shadli. Arshad is my father's name. 28 years to date, married to lovely always worried wife Nik Nurul Diyanah. A hybrid of us, we made a handsome yet stunning son called Muhammad Fahyim Syakir. A very intelligent boy. Loves to dance, grooves to the beats of reggae and nods to the sound of rock and roll.

Manchester United FC by far is the greatest club in the world. I am a glory hunter and it pisses me off when united lose. But they've won my heart since Cantona shove up his collar. I don't fancy weekends when there's no footie on tele. I don't dig weekdays when Uefa Champions League not in TV.

Trading currencies is what I do for a living. I stare graphs and trends to keep my bosses rich. I deal millions to make decimals. Whenever you see a money changer on nearby, most probably they are customers of mine.

Soooo.. this blog will ultimately covers the topic of my awesome life, my amazing wife , my electrifying kid, my abbreviated timetable , some football, some music and loads of currency thoughts and insides.

Give this noob a chance although I tend to babble. Haha!
